Deacons
The Role of Our Deacons
The office of Deacon as set forth in Scripture (I Timothy 3:8-13) is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. It is the duty of Deacons to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, to the bereaved, and to any who are in distress. Deacons are elected annually, ordained and installed for three year terms.
The Deacons have a responsibility to the sick and home bound members of our church which include: hospital visitations, home visits to the nursing homes, transportation for doctor visits or food shopping and special Thanksgiving & Valentine baskets.
Our ministry also provides special services for the congregation and community, such as, hearing appliances and large print bulletins for Worship services; first aid kits and convalescent equipment bank; financial aid (when there is a need); send money to local food pantries; and provide care packages to college students.
